EastEnders: Bonnie Langford on Masood and Denise’s kiss – “Carmel is not happy!”

The actress reveals all about next week's drama

Carmel Kazemi’s 50th birthday celebrations will take an unexpected twist next week when she spies ex-lover Masood trying to kiss her best mate Denise.

“Carmel isn’t happy about it!” says actress Bonnie Langford. “She’s wondering if she really knows whose side anybody is on. Carmel doesn’t necessarily want to be with Masood, but at the same time she does. So she has these mixed feelings. She likes her freedom and yet she wants to be cared for too.”

So what’s her reaction after witnessing the pair getting close? “She just gets drunk. She buries her head in alcohol and escapes from the party. She goes home. And a lot of it she pretends to ignore – she chooses to not notice and doesn’t want to go there.”

But viewers shouldn’t expect her to be blue for too long. Upcoming episodes will see Carmel further embed herself into the neighbourhood and Langford promises that her character will aim to see the positive in life:

“Carmel’s very busy. She really has immersed herself in the community of the Square and so she’s getting more involved with the stall. She’s busy in her own world just trying to keep her boys happy.

At the moment, it’s all about her finding her place on the stall and just chilling out in the summer and then becoming quite involved in the market. Life is quite good at the moment. She’s happy.”
