EastEnders cast members including Danny Dyer and Kellie Bright have praised Barbara Windsor’s performance following Peggy’s death in Tuesday’s episode of the BBC1 soap.
The Walford stars took to Twitter after the Mitchell matriarch was seen taking her life in poignant scenes.
Kellie Bright, who plays current Queen Vic landlady Linda Carter, congratulated both Windsor and the episode’s writer Sarah Phelps.

Jessie Wallace, currently filming in EastEnders spin-off Redwater, also commended Phelps for penning what she considered to be the greatest episode in the show’s 31-year history.

Ross Kemp, who was seen making a return as Grant Mitchell, championed his screen mum as well as co-stars Steve McFadden and Letitia Dean.

And Danny Dyer said that Peggy had been “beautifully wonderful” in her final scenes before going on to share a photo of himself and Windsor taken last year during the soap’s 30th anniversary.
