EastEnders: Johnny Carter’s comeback storyline revealed

Find out when actor Ted Reilly will be making his debut

Johnny Carter is to make a surprise visit to Albert Square later this month, but will his trip home from Italy be smooth sailing?

The Carters’ son (now played by Ted Reilly) will be back on screens on 12 April, with Johnny set to arrive during a karaoke night at the Vic hosted by patriarch Mick (Danny Dyer).

Linda (Kellie Bright) is overjoyed by Johnny’s reappearance, but there are hints that Johnny might find it tough readjusting to life back in Walford. Just how much does he know about the rape trauma that Linda endured? And where is Johnny’s boyfriend Gianluca?

Actor Ted Reilly, who takes over the role of Johnny from Sam Strike, said at the time of his signing to the BBC1 soap: “I’m truly delighted to be joining such an iconic show. The Carters are a fantastic family.”

Added executive producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins: “Johnny is a key member of the Carter family and he’s been missing over the past year and a half, when so much has happened to the Carters.

“As the family embark on their next big storyline to take them through 2016, it felt wrong not to have Johnny back to play a big part in that –and learn everything that has happened while he has been away.

“We have so much in store for Johnny and so many stories to tell and, after massive casting sessions and recalls with Danny and Kellie, we have found in Ted not only a brilliant actor, but the perfect Johnny Carter.”
