EastEnders: Janet Dibley to return as Phil’s ex-lover Lorna Cartwright

Phil to get a shock when he runs into his old flame this week

Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) is to get a blast from the past this week when he runs into ex-lover Lorna Cartwright (Janet Dibley).

The character of Lorna hasn’t been seen since 1998 when she admitted herself into a detox programme after Phil prevented her from committing suicide.

Now, Phil is set to encounter Lorna again at an AA meeting – the first time the pair have laid eyes on each other in 18 years.

Speaking about Lorna’s return, a source told The Sun today: “Lorna was a great character and viewers loved her, especially her chemistry with Phil. No one wanted Janet to leave in 1998 and now the chance to get her back full-time will not be missed.”

Actress Janet Dibley first found in 1980s’ sitcom The Two of Us, where she starred opposite Nicholas Lyndhurst. Since leaving EastEnders, she has gone on to feature as Elaine Cassidy in Doctors and in veterinary drama The Chase.
