Will Little Mo return to EastEnders? “It’s not like they haven’t asked,” says Kacey Ainsworth

On the topic of whether she'd reprise the role, the actress said, "It would be a nice thing to do"

Former EastEnders star Kacey Ainsworth has revealed that she has been approached about a return to the BBC1 soap.

Ainsworth added that she’d “never say never” about the chance to reprise the role of Little Mo Slater, who she played between the years of 2000 and 2006.

When asked whether she’d like EastEnders to reunite the Slater sisters, Ainsworth said: “It’s not like they haven’t asked. But the thing is, I have so much on the table at the moment that it would actually be quite difficult to find a space. So it’s about timing.

“But I look back on my time on EastEnders with real nostalgia. The Slaters made a big impact and it all worked well. So you never say never. It would be a nice thing to do, maybe, I don’t know.”

During her time on EastEnders, Little Mo was at the centre of a number of high profile storylines, most notably the domestic abuse she suffered at the hands of partner Trevor Morgan (Alex Ferns).

Since leaving the soap, Ainsworth has featured in Midsomer Murders, Call the Midwife and returns next week in the second series of period detective drama Grantchester, where she plays Cathy Keating, the wife of Robson Green’s DI Geordie Keating.

Speaking about sharing screen time with Green, Ainsworth said: “Everyone loves Robson. He’s so charismatic and I think he’s even better in real life than he is in the way you see him on screen, if that’s possible. He’s very welcoming and he’ll text me after we film together to say, ‘Had a lovely day today’, which is a lovely thing to do. He doesn’t have to do that.”

RadioTimes.com contacted the BBC about Ainsworth being asked to return to EastEnders, but they declined to comment.

Grantchester returns to ITV on Wednesday 2 March at 9pm on ITV
