Car crash horror for the Beales and Mitchells in EastEnders Christmas Day episode

Is a well-loved character about to meet their maker?

Two of EastEnders’s biggest families will be facing potential tragedy this Christmas thanks to a devastating car crash.

The BBC1 soap has already announced that one of its regular characters won’t be making it through to new year, but will it be one of the Mitchells or Beales who’ll be losing their life?

The two clans will be at the centre of the drama on the 25th of December as they sit down for Christmas dinner together.

But with Jane and Ian desperate to protect an increasingly unpredictable Bobby and Sharon determined to keep her own family safe, the two families soon find themselves at each other’s throats and threatening to destroy relationships forever.

But as the adults argue, little do they know that hostilities between Bobby and Dennis are increasing at an alarming speed – leading to an horrific smash-up. Will everyone survive?

EastEnders does, of course, have a history of killing characters off in road accidents over the festive season: Jamie Mitchell died in 2002 after being run over by Martin Fowler, Tiffany Mitchell lost her life after being hit by a car driven by Frank Mitchell in 1998, while DS Emma Summerhayes expired at the start of 2015 after colliding with a vehicle that had been sabotaged by Nick Cotton.

But who will be the latest victim in the 2015 Christmas special (BBC1, 8.45pm)
