EastEnders star Danny Dyer – “Dean is determined to stop Mick and Linda’s wedding”

Will the Carters get a happy ever after? Or will a vengeful Dean ruin the big day?

Mick and Linda Carter may have been planning their dream wedding since they were teenagers, but a vengeful Dean Wicks looks set to ruin their New Year’s Day nuptials.

“Dean’s really determined to stop the wedding. It’s not just about stopping the wedding though there’s more to it than that,” teases Danny Dyer.

In the run-up to the big day, Dean will finally be ousted from the Carter family after Shirley catches him attacking Roxy. With the family reunited now that everyone knows the truth about Dean’s dark side, it seems that the wedding will be memorable and happy occasion.

But, unbeknownst to them, a rage-filled Dean will return to seek revenge, plunging Shirley and Mick into deadly danger in the process. EastEnders are currently remaining tight-lipped as to what the outcome of the stand-off will be, but fans can expect a lakeside confrontation for the Carters. So what was it like filming the watery stunts?

“Very hard work, especially the underwater stuff. Both physically and mentally,” continues Dyer. “But it’s great to get out of the Square. It’s a beautiful thing working in the Vic, but to go on location is always great. And to do stuff like the lake stunt when we’re using crane shots and special underwater cameras was an honour. It’s always nice to take this show to that level because it deserves it. It’s shot beautifully. But it was difficult – it was hard jumping into a lake in November.”

As for how it’s been having Matt Di Angelo – who plays Dean – as an opponent throughout this long-running storyline, Dyer adds: “I love Matt. I needed a nemesis in the show and it definitely brought out Mick’s character more, but it’s a shame it had to be my brother. I’ve got a beautiful line in the script where I say ‘things could have been so different’.”

In previous interviews, Dyer has hinted that there could be a happy ‘doof doof’ in store for Mick and Linda at the end of the upcoming New Year’s Day episode but here he stresses that “this is EastEnders. There’s never a happy ending.”

So, as for whether Mick and Linda do actually tie the knot at the start of 2016, we’ll have to wait and see. But one thing’s for sure and that’s the fact that Danny Dyer won’t be making any resolutions as he enters the new year:

“I don’t do New Year’s resolutions. I just don’t see the point in them. I always strive to be a batter person and I think that should be enough really. But I will have a good new year.”
