EastEnders: Craig Revel Horwood makes his debut – and gets on the wrong side of Shirley and Mick!

Just what is the connection between the Strictly judge and Carmel's cat?

Craig Revel Horwood will arrive in Albert Square over the coming weeks (well, sort of…), only to immediately get on the wrong side of Shirley (Linda Henry) and Mick (Danny Dyer).

Actually, Craig Revel Horwood is really the name Carmel (Bonnie Langford) has given to her pet cat. And Mick and Shirley will only get involved after they secretly meet up in the park and the cat gets stuck up a tree.

With Carmel afraid of heights, Shirley is forced to get Craig the cat down. However, will Carmel keep quiet about spotting Shirley and Mick together?

Speaking recently about his decision to name a moggy after the Strictly judge, EastEnders’s executive producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins said: “Carmel is about to come back with her cat Craig Revel Horwood. She’s a big Strictly fan.

“And all this leads to an amazing scene with Danny Dyer and Linda Henry shouting ‘Craig Revel Horwood!’ and trying to lure this cat down from a tree.”

Danny Dyer’s co-star Kellie Bright is currently competing in this year’s BBC1 dance tournament and the Queen Vic hard man has already warned that he won’t accept any nonsense from the real-life Horwood:

“She’s my screen wife and I love her dearly. If Craig is nasty to Kellie then I am going to iron him out,” he said recently.

All of which leads us to wonder how exactly he’s going to react to Horwood’s feline namesake?
