EastEnders: Scott Neal to play Elaine Peacock’s toy boy lover – as Maria Friedman also returns to the BBC1 soap

Former The Bill and Beautiful Thing star will arrive as Jason this autumn

Actor Scott Neal is joining EastEnders to play a love interest for Maria Friedman’s character Elaine Peacock.

Linda’s mum will return this autumn and will be accompanied by young lover Jase, played by Beautiful Thing star Neal.

Executive producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins said of the soap’s upcoming storyline: “We’ve got some rare fun for the Carters as Maria Friedman returns for a three-month stint with Scott Neal in tow as her toy boy lover.

“All of which will add a little bit of fun for Mick and Linda in the pub.”

A show insider added to RadioTimes.com: “The Carters are shocked when Elaine returns home from holiday with Jase. He’s certainly put a smile on her face, but is he all that he seems?”

Scott Neal first came to prominence in the 1996 gay drama film Beautiful before taking on the role of PC Luke Ashton in The Bill.

Neal’s arrival on EastEnders comes during a busy time on the BBC1 soap as Max Branning goes to trial for the murder of Lucy Beale, Dean Gaffney arrives back as Robbie Jackson and Kathy (Gillian Taylforth) is reunited with sons Ian and Ben.

“It’s a big bumpy ride between now and Christmas. There are lots of shocks in store,” added Treadwell-Collins.
