“Taking my kit off is just part of being Kush,” says EastEnders star Davood Ghadami

"It's nice to balance out heavier storylines with the lighter stuff," adds the actor

Market stall holder Kush Kazemi has been separated from his own clothing more times than is strictly necessary since he arrived in Albert Square last October. But actor Davood Ghadami has no problems with stripping on screen.

“Taking my kit off is just part of being Kush, and it’s nice to balance out heavier storylines with the lighter stuff,” said the actor.

Kush first paraded around starkers over Halloween 2014 when he strutted down Bridge Street naked save for a pumpkin over his private parts.

Then came the incident back in June when which saw Kush fall victim to a prank that resulted in him being chained to the railings in Albert Square wearing only his pants.

“They were real handcuffs and it wasn’t the warmest day,” Ghadami told Inside Soap. “Lots of the cast were snapping selfies.”

However, next week’s episodes of EastEnders will take a dark turn for both Kush and his fiancee Shabnam when the pair learn that their unborn child has died.

It’s the start of a traumatic storyline for the pair that looks set to threaten their future together. “When any couple goes through a trauma, it’s bound to test their relationship. There’s hope that they’re strong enough to get through it – but they’ll be met with obstacles that no couple should have to face.”

Ghadami’s words echo those of co-star Rakhee Thakrar, who earlier this week expressed hope that Shabnam and Kush could weather the storm ahead.

Said the actress: “Kush and Shabnam’s relationship will be tested beyond all limits. Grief can be very isolating and everyone handles it in their own unique way. Shabnam’s trademark coping mechanism is to shut everyone out. Which will inevitably cause problems with Kush.

“I hope they can recover – I think they’re a special couple who make it feel like things that seem impossible can be possible.”
