Shabnam Masood (Rakhee Thakrar) has revealed that she has a daughter who she abandoned on a doorstep.
Shock scenes just broadcast during tonight’s episode of EastEnders saw an emotional Shabnam show Stacey (Lacey Turner) a newspaper cutting headlined ‘Doorstep Baby’ before admitting: “I had a daughter and I gave her away.”
The clipping (which you can see below) detailed the circumstances surrounding Shabnam’s actions, with the report saying that the baby was left in a box by a house in the Bethnal Green area of London.
Shabnam made the admission in the wake of sleeping with market stall holder Kush Kazemi (Davood Ghadami). After confessing to Stacey that she felt like a hypocrite and not worthy of wearing the hijab, Stacey tried to reassure her friend by saying, “It’s just one bloke. It’s not like you’ve ever done it before. You shouldn’t be so hard on yourself.”
However, Shabnam then surprised Stacey by taking the press report form her bag and handing it over with the words, “That was the first time.”
Speaking earlier in the week about the emotional plotline, actress Rakhee Thakrar told Good Morning Britain: “At the minute, Shabnam is holding on by a thread – everything is coming apart. This week she is hanging on by nothing and Stacey is there to catch her.”
