Olly Murs films special EastEnders scene

The singer's one-off guest appearance alongside show regular Shane Richie will air as part of ITV's A Night In with Olly Murs

Chart topper Olly Murs is to run into Albert Square stalwart Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) on a trip to Walford that will be screened later this month.

But Murs, 30, is not joining the cast of the BBC1 soap. The singer will actually make his visit to the EastEnders set as part of the upcoming A Night In with Olly Murs, which will be broadcast on Friday 12 December on ITV.

Speaking of his experiences, Murs said today: “I’ve watched the show since I can remember and my whole family are fans too. To get the chance to walk on to Albert Square was very surreal indeed.”

But it seems that Murs – whose latest album Never Been Better is currently at the top of the album charts – will find that word of his fame has not reached E20.

After bumping into Alfie on the Bridge Street market, Murs will list some of his most famous songs. But when he mentions Heart Skips a Beat, a puzzled Alfie replies: “Really? You wanna see a doctor cos that’s a murmur.”  And in the end, Murs has to settle with being mistaken for Bruno Mars!

A Night In with Olly Murs will also feature a lip-synch battle with comedian John Bishop, as well as Murs and Nicole Scherzinger surprise photo-bombing some fans.

I’ve always wanted to have a special on TV and now I’ve got one! It was so much fun to record and I can’t wait for everyone to watch it,” Murs added.
