EastEnders spoilers: Ann Mitchell on the future for Cora and Stan

The veteran actress also promised developments for Cora and Patrick - and revealed what she makes of the current production team on the BBC1 soap

It looks like Cora Cross is to have a busy time of it in the coming months thanks to the attentions of both Stan Carter (Timothy West) and Patrick Trueman (Rudolph Walker).

“I will continue my relationship with Stan. And there’s some very interesting stuff with Cora and Patrick,” Ann Mitchell revealed to RadioTimes.com on the red carpet at this year’s British Soap Awards.

But it seems that there will continue to be no love lost between Cora and former son-in-law Max, who was recently exposed as having had an illicit affair with Lucy Beale: “Cora is hopping mad with him,” the actress added. “She cannot believe that he has sunk to such depravity. His daughter’s best friend? Unbelievable. Cora is on the warpath.”

Mitchell was, though, full of praise for EastEnders, the soap on which she’s featured for the past three years. Speaking about the current production team, the veteran star commented: “We have very good storylines at the moment and Dominic [Treadwell-Collins, executive producer] has brought an enthusiasm and a real passion to the show.

“I think the new family are terrific and that the established characters are bouncing off them. There’s a very good atmosphere.”
