EastEnders to mark the birth of the royal baby in tonight’s episode

Dot and Abi will be seen discussing the arrival of Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge’s son

The birth of Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge’s baby boy will be marked during a special scene in tonight’s EastEnders (7.30pm, BBC1).

Dot (June Brown) and Abi Branning (Lorna Fitzgerald) will be seen discussing the latest addition to the royal family, who was born on Monday at 4.24pm weighing 8lbs 6oz.

A spokesperson for the BBC1 soap said: “This is such a momentous occasion for the royal family, the country and of course the residents of Walford that we felt it should be marked in EastEnders history”.

Over the years, EastEnders has filmed many scenes marking historical or topical moments have been inserted into episodes. These have included the wedding of Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge. plus notable sporting achievements from World Cup matches, the Olympics and most recently Andy Murray’s win at Wimbledon.
