The BBC has released a trailer that previews actress Jo Joyner’s final appearance on EastEnders. The episode, set to air on Friday 28 June, will see Tanya make a decision on her future in Walford in the light of daughter Lauren’s (Jacqueline Jossa) battle with alcohol.
The 30-second trail, which asks ‘How Far Would You Go for Your Daughter?’ sees Tanya at breaking point as she reveals to Max (Jake Wood) how desperate she feels about the family crisis that has found Lauren hospitalised with acute alcoholic hepatitis.
Speaking about the current storyline, actress Jacqueline Jossa said of Lauren’s plight: “There were clear signs a long time ago, yet not only did Lauren often cover up what she was doing, other people just stayed back and let her go about her business, getting worse and worse.
“Tanya is the one who realises she needs to do something drastic to help Lauren and she manages to convince Max to agree, but they could have been a lot more involved and helped her from the beginning. When they took her to the doctor a year ago they should have been watching her more and protecting her from the train wreck of their family.”
In an interview with the show’s website, the actress added: “It was quite sad to have to take the character so low, as you really feel for Lauren.”
EastEnders continues tonight at 7.30pm on BBC1.
