Widely touted as HBO’s next big thing now that Game of Thrones has wrapped up, Westworld is a science-fiction series that takes place in a Western themed amusement park populated by robots. After the first two seasons achieved critical acclaim, the third has just kicked off to a slightly less positive response as the story takes on a broader scope. Still, this is one of the most talked about shows on television, with a star-studded cast including Thandie Newton (Solo: A Star Wars Story), Tessa Thompson (Thor: Ragnarok) and Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad).  Watch Westworld on NOW TV

Rob Brydon and Steve Coogan’s fine dining sitcom comes to a close with this fourth and final season. Marvel fans will delight at this mind-bending superhero show from Noah Hawley, creator of the superb Fargo television series. Legion explores the troubled mind of David Haller (Dan Stevens), the son of Professor X who discovers who discovers the voices in his head might just be real after all. The series oozes a surreal style which makes for a visually arresting watch, with Stevens putting in a strong lead performance alongside co-stars Aubrey Plaza (Parks and Recreation), Rachel Keller (Fargo) and Jean Smart (Watchmen). Intelligence

Friends star David Schwimmer takes on a very different role in this offering from Sky Comedy. When a pompous NSA agent is sent to Cheltenham to collaborate with British intelligence services, he quickly finds his methods clash with the standard way of doing things. Created by co-star Nick Mohammed, Intelligence makes effective use of a classic odd couple dynamic, with some solid gags and strong performances.

Kidding

Jim Carrey in Showtime’s Kidding

Jim Carrey stars in this poignant comedy-drama about a children’s entertainer who struggles to cope as his private life takes a downward spiral. Kidding is the iconic actor’s return to television after decades away and his performance bagged him a Golden Globe nomination. Curb Your Enthusiasm

The Handmaid’s Tale

Parks and Recreation

Amy Poehler stars in this beloved sitcom as dedicated public servant Leslie Knope who works tirelessly for the parks department of Pawnee, Indiana. Across its seven seasons, the show accumulated a die-hard fanbase and it isn’t hard to see why. There’s a colourful cast of characters here to get acquainted with, including Chris Pratt as the dim-witted Andy Dwyer and Nick Offerman as the legendary Ron Swanson. Game of Thrones

Show Me A Hero

Oscar Isaac takes the lead role in this drama from The Wire’s David Simon, exploring a landmark case in which an attempt to build public housing in a middle-class neighbourhood had devastating effects across the city. Save Me

The Newsroom

Jeff Daniels stars in this political thriller from superstar writer Aaron Sorkin (The West Wing, The Social Network). The series takes viewers behind-the-scenes of a nightly cable news programme, where a new executive producer comes in to rattle the cage of a prolific newsreader. The series had a rocky start but found its groove across a three-season run, which saw A-list guest stars including Jane Fonda (Grace and Frankie), Terry Crews (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) and David Harbour (Stranger Things).
