Danny Dyer, Chris Evans and Ant and Dec win at Television and Radio Industries Club awards
Silent Witness, Downton Abbey and Gogglebox were among the successful shows at the industry awards

Another triumph for Danny Dyer, a rare knockback for Ant and Dec and Sherlock well and truly silenced. These were some of the highlights of Tuesday’s Television and Radio Industries Club (TRIC) awards in central London.
While Dyer was named best soap personality, Benedict Cumberbatch and the rest of the Sherlock crew were pipped to crime programme of the year by BBC1’s Silent Witness.
And though Ant and Dec were judged winners of the TV personality category, their Saturday Night Takeaway show lost out to Gogglebox for the best entertainment programme award.
Other notable winners include Chris Evans as radio personality of the year, Jeff Stelling as best sports presenter – beating Clare Balding – and Susanna Reid as best news presenter, ahead of her sofa buddy Ben Shephard and BBC’s Fiona Bruce. Coronation Street won TV soap of the year beating EastEnders and Hollyoaks.
The Television and Radio Industries Club (TRIC) awards were held at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel and are voted for by members of the broadcast industry.
