“The Connors have an interesting December on the cards. With the arrival of Aidan’s dad Johnny and sister Kate, Carla has this new family around her, but it’s going to lead to a life-changing event for her and the others,” said the Coronation Street star.

King is set to take a break from the ITV soap next year, but not before screen brother Rob Donovan (Marc Baylis) starts manipulating Carla’s life from the confines of his prison cell.

Speaking about the drama ahead, King said to Inside Soap: “It’s all a consequence of her brother Rob messing with all of the Connors’ lives.”

On the topic of Rob’s comeback. producer Stuart Blackburn said“He’s got a real nasty, malicious edge to him. He’s also going to be delivering news that will change somebody’s life.”

Rob hasn’t been seen on screen since November 2014, when he was finally caught by the police for the crime of murdering Tina McIntyre.
