Coronation Street spoilers: Peter Barlow’s murder trial begins – first look

The outlook doesn't look good for an innocent Peter as the courtroom drama unfolds

ITV has released the first image from Coronation Street’s big autumn storyline, which will see Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) stand trial for the murder of Rovers Return barmaid Tina McIntyre.

A beleaguered Peter has been held on remand ever since being arrested back in July, but will appear in the dock later this month. Peter is, of course, innocent of the crime of which he’s been accused, with the real killer Rob Donovan (Marc Baylis) still at large in Weatherfield.

Scenes to be shown on Monday 13 October will see Peter’s hopes of being found innocent start to dwindle as damning evidence is given in the courtroom.

Meanwhile, a troubled Rob ties to worm his way out of going to the trial, but will face a tough time of his own when young Simon (Alex Bain) starts asking difficult questions. On a visit to Tina’s grave, Rob ends up assuring Simon that Peter had nothing to do with her death. But how will Rob react when Simon then asks who did?
