Channel 4’s Dates tops list of positively talked about shows

Sheridan Smith, Oona Chaplin and Will Mellor’s dating tales tops the social media chart as fans rush to praise the show

Dating is a topic that certainly gets people talking – who should pay the bill, who should call who first, what you should wear… and as it turns out, watching other people date is just as entertaining.


In fact, seeing how other people’s dates have gone – disastrous or otherwise – has seen Channel 4’s Dates top Virgin Media’s Hotlist for the month of June.

The drama from Skins creator Bryan Elsley, which saw famous faces including Sheridan Smith Oona Chaplin and Will Mellor exploring the minefield that is 21st century romance, racked up the most amount of positive social media posts for the whole month. 

Dates managed to beat out top documentary Operation Snow Tiger as well as Frankie, The Voice UK and a tribute show to comedy legend Les Dawson.


Scooping a 26.53% positivity rating, the show also saw off competition from social media favourites Made In Chelsea, Britain’s Got Talent and TOWIE.
