The times are changing in 2014 for the staff in the emergency department at Holby General. There’s a new arrangement of the theme music, fresh opening titles, a change of decor and a host of new signings for the Saturday-night medical drama.
Biggest news of all is the news that former Holby City favourite Connie Beauchamp (Amanda Mealing) will be making the switch to emergency medicine – a move that executive producer Oliver Kent says “will set the cat among the pigeons, not least with Ash and Zoe”. Other arrivals include Lee Mead as nurse Lofty, Call the Midwife’s George Rainsford as registrar Ethan Hardy, plus Richard Winsor as Ethan’s brother Dr Caleb Knight.
There’ll be more to come from Oliver Kent here at RadioTimes.com in the coming weeks as he teases 2014’s key plotlines. But, for now, you can view the full-size cast image, listen to the revamped theme (which includes the music that underscores the ‘Previously on Casualty’ recap) and watch a preview of next year’s episodes.
