Seeing as Peter Capaldi is taking his time transforming into the Doctor, we’ll have to make do with some Matt Smith repeats. Tonight on BBC3, David Walliams stars in an adventure inside a nightmarish hotel while in a later episode James Corden tackles a Cyberman. 

The Numbers Game – 7:00pm, National Geographic

Jake Porway is back on Nat Geo trying to help improve our lives, with the aid of stats and experiments. Tonight he’s showing us how to become tougher, using ice and sticks. The second episode in the double bill reveals how to avoid being scammed… 

Britain’s Got Talent – 7:15pm, ITV

The audition stage continues on ITV this evening as more hopefuls with varying degrees of talent perform for the celebrity judges. Tonight’s episode sees a mix of brilliant acts and downright awful ones. But will anyone press their golden buzzer? Tune in and find out… 

Bert and Dickie – 9:00pm, Drama 

Former Doctor Who Matt Smith stars in this drama about plucky rowers Bert Bushnell and Dickie Burnell as they aim for glory at the 1948 London Olympics.

Generation War: Our Mothers, Our Fathers – 9:30pm, BBC2

German-language drama series Generation War continues on BBC2 tonight. It’s May 1934 and brothers Wilhelm and Friedhlem are becoming increasingly demoralised, as they are instructed to capture a Russian telegraph station. Back in Berlin, Greta’s music career is taking off. 

The Americans – 10:30pm, ITV

KGB spies Elizabeth and Philip wrestle with their consciences this week, as Elizabeth worries her husband has been seduced by capitalism. Elsewhere, Lucia causes trouble and double agent Nina rubs shoulders with Agent Beeman.
