Former US Vice President Joe Biden has shared his support for Veep Star Julia Louis-Dreyfus in the wake of her cancer diagnosis.

Barack Obama’s second in command posted a kind message on Twitter hours after the star had announced that she is undergoing treatment for breast cancer.

“We Veeps stick together,” Biden said, using the slang term for vice president made popular by the HBO comedy in which Dreyfus plays a tenacious, and often calamitous VP. “Jill and I, and all of the Bidens, are with you, Julia.”

Louis-Dreyfus, who rose to prominence as Elaine Benes in Seinfeld during the 1980s and 90s, shared the news with an admirable tweet in which she highlighted the need to  make universal affordable healthcare a reality in the US. The topic is a hot point of contention at the moment, as President Trump and the Republican party continue their battle to repeal and replace the healthcare system that President Obama introduced during his spell in the Oval Office.

Much of Hollywood – and the good parts of Washington – also rallied around the star. Check out some more messages of support below.
