Emmerdale have teased there is romance on the horizon for Daz Spencer, who made a surprise comeback last week after a three-year absence.
Dan’s dodgy brother was run out of town in 2014 for scamming the locals and making a move on his sibling’s fiancee Kerry Wyatt, but the intervening years have not been kind as it was revealed he’s been living on the streets, penniless and alone.
With Daz back in the village for the foreseeable future, and desperate to make amends with his family, producer Iain MacLeod has spoken of his future plans for the character – including a love interest.
And it’s unlikely Emmerdale will revisit the stolen kiss between Daz and Kerry that caused friction with Dan in the first place, as MacLeod explains: “There is definitely a new romance on the cards for Daz. I won’t say who with. It will make for an interesting ‘odd couple’ dynamic which is going to be really good fun.”
On the subject of closing the door on another dalliance with his future sister-in-law, ex-Heartbeat star Mark Jordon, who is reprising the role of Daz, said: “Being out in the wilderness has given Daz plenty of time to contemplate his mistakes. He regrets what happened and would like to think he could get some sort of connection back with his family. But it’s not always easy to forgive and forget…”
MacLeod’s comment about an ‘odd couple’ pairing brings to mind Cain Dingle and Harriet Finch’s relationship – Emmerdale will have their work cut out in finding a more unexpected match than a gangster and the local vicar.
So who could catch Daz’s eye? Prim and proper Bernice White? Posh princess Priya Kotecha? Business brain Megan Macey? Vivacious vet Vanessa Woodfield? Feisty fraudster Faith Dingle? Watch this space…
