Emmerdale aired a surprise return for the character of Daz Spencer in tonight’s episode, but the three years since he was last on screen have clearly not been kind as he was spotted living on the street and begging passers-by for money.
Dan’s dodgy brother came to visit his brother in July 2014, but was driven out just a few weeks later for robbing from the villagers and trying to kiss his future sister-in-law Kerry Wyatt.
It was Kerry who spotted him while shopping in town, and she was shocked at his dishevelled state and the fact he was obviously homeless. Not wanting Daz to realise he’d been seen, Kezza kept in the shadows as she watched him attempt to con money from strangers.
When Kerry got home she deliberately didn’t tell Dan about the encounter with his estranged sibling – yet. Presumably, though, this isn’t the last we’ve seen of dastardly Daz and we’ll eventually discover where it all went wrong…
Speaking of his shock comeback, which comes as a complete surprise to fans as it was not publicised ahead of transmission, Mark Jordon said: “I’m overjoyed to be back at Emmerdale. I had a wonderful time when I was here before, it was one of my favourite jobs ever and to get invited back had me screaming, ‘yes!’
“Daz is obviously very different to the person we saw three years ago, and has had a lot to think about since he was last in the village. But at the moment he is unaware that Kerry has seen him…”
How has Daz ended up on the streets? Will Kerry tell Dan? Could a family reunion be on the cards?
