Hollyoaks: new boys Jacob Roberts and Adam Woodward give first joint interview – “We’re having so much fun!”

Find out what’s in store for heartthrobs Damon and Brody

Hollyoaks has never exactly been short of eye candy, but the introduction of Brody Hudson emerging from the sea wearing nothing but Daniel Craig-style blue trunks – and a glint in his eye – in the recent Ibiza episodes heralded the arrival of some seriously sexy new faces set to add extra sizzle to the soap over the summer.

Arriving in the village this week to join best mate and fellow newbie Damon Kinsella, recently established as the secret long-lost brother of Scott Drinkwell, Brody and his BFF promise to bring bants back to Hollyoaks. These lovable lads will make a big impact as they become regulars among the Chester set, and we caught up with Jacob Roberts (Damon) and Adam Woodward (Brody) in their first joint interview since their casting was announced earlier this year, to discuss what’s it like to be the new heartthrobs in town…

When did you first meet and find out you would be having an on-screen bromance?

Jacob: We met at the screen test and connected straight away. Then it obviously worked well because when we were put together to test the chemistry, we ended getting the parts!

What is the secret to your dynamic?

Adam: We just bounce of each other, and straight away in the audition process and in rehearsals it just seemed to work well. The dialogue between us is great, and I think that’s what paid off in the audition with the executive producer, because we were able to rehearse together and get the right energy for the characters.

How has your time at Hollyoaks been so far?

J: I’ve absolutely loved it! I’m having so much fun.

A: All the cast and crew and everyone that works at the production company Lime Pictures are amazing to work with. From the minute I walked in the door, they were nothing but welcoming.

Which members of the cast are you looking forward to working with the most?

A: Gary Lucy and Ashley Taylor Dawson. Gary was so iconic all those years ago as Luke Morgan, and Ashley has been here for so long – I haven’t worked with either of those guys yet and I think I could learn a lot from them.

J: I’d say Ashley as well, because both my character, Damon, and Darren are joker types, so I’d love to play some scenes with him.

Which girls in the village do you think Brody and Damon will go for?

J: I think both Ellie and Holly could do with some nice genuine guys in their life, which Brody and Damon both are. It might help them change their perception of men after what they’ve been through.

Have you both always wanted to be actors?

J: Yes, from a very young age.

A: I came into acting about six or seven years ago. It was something I was always interested in but never had the confidence to pursue but, eventually, I went to my first class and from there I knew I wanted to pursue it properly.

What would be the dream storylines for your characters in the future?

A: I’ve loved the stories that we’ve had so far, actually. I quite like that Brody isn’t settling down just yet, so it will be interesting to see how he fits into the village, relationship-wise. It will be good to see if he does go against all that and end up with someone, or if he just continues being involved in other people’s love triangles…

J: We’ve not seen Brody have a serious relationship so if he was to, how would Damon react to that? I would also like to have more family members come and join me.

Hollyoaks continues weeknights on E4 at 7pm, and on Channel 4 at 6.30pm.
