Allison Williams joins Benedict Cumberbatch’s new Sky series Melrose

The Girls actress will play an acquaintance from Melrose’s playboy years in New York

Girls star Allison Williams will make a guest appearance opposite Benedict Cumberbatch in the forthcoming Sky series, Melrose.

Best known for playing Marnie in the Lena Dunham dramedy Girls, Williams will join the cast as Marianne, a woman who Cumberbatch’s character Patrick Melrose meets during his playboy years in New York.

The Sky Atlantic series is an adaptation of Edward St Aubyn’s Melrose novels and follows Patrick, a wealthy man who turns to substance abuse to erase bad childhood memories of his father.

Williams and Cumberbatch are joined by the previously announced cast Jennifer Jason Leigh, Hugo Weaving and Anna Madeley.

Apart from Girls, Williams is known for this year’s acclaimed horror film Get Out and she previously played Kate Middleton in a parody series about the royal couple, Will & Kate: Before Happily Ever After.
