Hollyoaks’ Sophie Austin to join Call the Midwife reveals partner Shayne Ward

Austin is the latest soap star to join Nonnatus House

Hollyoaks star Sophie Austin is to appear in Call the Midwife series seven, her boyfriend Shayne Ward has revealed.

Speaking with Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield on This Morning, The X Factor winner and Coronation Street actor said: “Now actually Sophie’s just starting a new job, and she’s probably going to kill me for saying this, but I have to say it because I’m excited for you, but she’s just started Call the Midwife.”

Austin played Lindsey Roscoe in Hollyoaks between 2012 and 2016, and she is certainly not the first soap star to join Nonnatus House, joining the ranks of Emmerdale’s Stephen McGann, EastEnders’ Cliff Parisi, and Holby City’s Victoria Yeates and Jack Ashton.

Call The Midwife will be back on our screens for a Christmas special later this year, followed by a full series in the new year.
