Coronation Street airs Nick Tilsley’s emotional exit

Actor Ben Price left Corrie in scenes just broadcast on ITV

Actor Ben Price’s final scenes as Nick Tilsley have been broadcast in tonight’s Coronation Street.

This week’s episodes of the ITV have seen Nick dicing with death after being stuck in treacherous quicksand on a trip to the coast – an experience that left him questioning his future in Weatherfield.

After realising that he couldn’t stay with Leanne with baby Oliver’s biological father (Steve) and her former flame (Peter) still in the neighbourhood, Nick opted to drive away for a fresh start, saying that he needed “a reboot” elsewhere.

But before he left, Nick said an emotional goodbye to Gail, promising to remember “the fun times” before adding, “Mum, you’re the best”. As he sped off, Leanne was seen heading out on to the Street, too late to stop Nick from leaving town.

Ben Price has been a staple part of the show since 2009, with Nick having been involved in no end of drama, including a one-night stand with his brother’s wife, a lorry crash that resulted in Nick getting brain damage, as well as a one-day marriage to Carla Connor.

As for the fallout from Nick’s exit, next week’s episodes will see a no-nonsense Gail make it clear to Leanne that she owes both her and baby Oliver nothing. Have fresh battle lines been drawn?
