Who is Jonny Awsum? You might remember the Britain’s Got Talent comedian from those Cravendale adverts

Everything you need to know about the musical-comic taking part in this year's BGT contest

Jonny Awsum is one of the more memorable contestants appearing on episode two of Britain’s Got Talent – but who is he? Let us help fill in some blanks…

Age: 39

From: Croydon, South London

Bio: Jonny, who lives with his wife and two children, is known for his feel-good musical comedy, which has seen him quickly rise from newcomer to sought-after headline act. After spending eight years as a barman at London’s Chuckle Club, Jonny was inspired to enter the comedy world, and hasn’t looked back since.

Jonny has performed over 1,000 shows all over the world, from Slovakia to Hong Kong. He has appeared at festivals including Henley Festival and Download, and is the current patron of the Derby Comedy Festival.

Here he is being introduced by Arthur Smith at Chortle’s Fast Fringe event in 2015:

His most recent Edinburgh Festival Fringe show ‘Everything is Awsum’ received critical acclaim, and he has since appeared on the Radio 2 Arts Show, as well as featuring as a guest presenter on Absolute Radio.

If that wasn’t enough, the seasoned comic also has experience of warming audiences up at TV shows including Big Brother and Loose Women, and has presented for Sky Sports and appeared in numerous TV adverts.

He’s cropped up in campaigns for EDF, The Post Office and Samsung… but our favourite (obviously) is the Cravendale ‘Cats with Thumbs’ ad from 2012. He’s the one looking a tad gormless in the shop…
