A drunk Mick Carter has lashed out at mum Shirley in tonight’s EastEnders after she accused him of wallowing in self pity. A cliffhanger scene saw the Queen Vic landlord chuck a glass at the wall inches from where Shirley was standing after she revealed that she’d sent Whitney packing.
Recent episodes of the BBC1 soap have seen Mick make a play for Whit while wife Linda is away looking after her sick mum Elaine. Feeling rejected by his wife, Mick has also been seeking solace in the bottle, leaving Shirley and Johnny to run the bar in his absence.
With the freehold of the pub having been sold without his knowledge, Mick’s feelings of resentment have been building, but this evening’s events was the first time we’d seen him get potentially violent.
However, in the immediate aftermath of the drama, Mick was seen apologising, telling Shirley that he’d never hurt her. As he recoiled, Mick was seen weeping, “I don’t know who I am anymore”. And quite frankly, Mick, we’re starting to wonder who you’ve become too!
