First look at Michael Greco on Casualty

The ex-EastEnder - best known for playing Beppe di Marco - joins the cast of the medical drama on Saturday

Former EastEnders heartthrob Michael Greco will be turning on the charm in this Saturday’s Casualty when he plays a uniformed police officer who catches the eye of ED regular Elle Gardner.

Greco features as cop Phil Paterson, who is admitted after suffering chest pains while in pursuit of a suspect. Despite being told that he may have been putting his heart under strain thanks to heavy gym sessions, Phil will be seen discharging himself in order to search for Connie’s young friend Hugo, who has gone missing.

The trouble is that Phil collapses mid-pursuit thanks a cardiac arrest, all of which sees Connie swooping in to try and save his life.

But will she be successful or is Phil destined to meet his maker after featuring in just one episode of the long-running BBC1 medical drama?

Greco is, of course, best known for his four-year stint as Albert Square’s Beppe di Marco, who he played between January 1998 and June 2002.

Since leaving EastEnders, he went on to feature in Celebrity Love Island and Soapstar Superstar, before landing a role in the Kevin Costner-starring mini-series Hatfields & McCoys.
