Michelle Gomez returns as Missy in new Doctor Who series 10 pictures

It’s a classic evil Mary Poppins look for Michelle Gomez' villain

After a bit of an absence Michelle Gomez’ villainous Missy returns to Doctor Who this week, and now some new pictures have been released by the BBC showing the returning Time Lady in all her glory.

Well, not quite all her glory – while she’s still the evil Mary Poppins we all know and love (complete with what we assume is a deadly umbrella), Missy’s looking a bit more bedraggled than the last time we saw her, suggesting that she might have had a bit of a tough time since we saw her last.

This could add fuel to the rumour that it’s actually Missy herself in the mysterious vault guarded by the Doctor (Peter Capaldi) and Nardole (Matt Lucas) – we doubt she could maintain her usual look over decades locked away – were it not for ANOTHER picture that seems to show her in her usual neat glory, emerging from a tower while surrounded by serious-looking guards.

Hmm – could this be after she escapes from the vault, or even sometime before in a flashback? Could it be an illusion maintained inside the vault itself? Or could it instead be where Missy’s been hanging out since escaping the Daleks last series, only for the Doctor to seek her out for some as-yet unknown reason? After all, this OTHER photo (seeing the Doctor in a different outfit to the one he wears throughout most of this episode, below) seems to show him meeting with Missy’s guards (led by Humans actor Ivanno Jeremiah)…

For now, it’s difficult to say – but if you spot any extra clues in these pictures OR any others from this Saturday’s episode (called Extremis) below, you be sure to let us know. We personally have some questions about why the Doctor is hanging out with zombie monks in the White House…
