Skins and Game of Thrones star Joe Dempsie joins spy drama Deep State

Who knew Chris from Skins would one day become a secret agent?

We may still not know where Game of Thrones’ weapon maker Gendry has got to but his real-life counterpart, Joe Dempsie, is back in the spotlight thanks to a new role in a spy drama.

Variety reports that Dempsie will join espionage expert Mark Strong (is there a political thriller or spy story the bloke hasn’t popped up in lately?) in Deep State, a new commission for Fox Network.

The eight-part series sees Strong’s Max Easton return to the spy game to avenge the death of his son, a move which throws his second wife’s (Belgian actress Lyne Renee) world upside down. Karima McAdams stars as a rather clever and determined member of the intelligence elite, while Dempsie will play a conflicted but incredibly talented secret agent, who struggles to reconcile his work with his moral standpoint.

Filming is underway in Morocco at the moment, with an air date yet to be confirmed.

It’s a long way from Skins’ sixth form college student Chris the actor has come, eh? Now if only we could confirm whether or not he’ll return to Game of Thrones too…

Deep State will air on Fox UK in 2018
