The first trailer for the hugely anticipated sequel to Blade Runner has landed. And it was worth the wait.
Blade Runner 2049 stars Ryan Gosling as LAPD Officer K, who discovers a secret that leads him to want to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford) – a former blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.
The trailer teases that there are still “pages left in this story” which also stars Jared Lero, Robin Wright, Ana De Armas, MacKenzie Davis, Sylvia Hoeks and Lennie Jamesl.
The movie has been executive produced by Blade Runner’s original director Ridley Scott and directed by Arrival’s Denis Villeneuve.
Ford recently revealed why he wanted to come back for the movie:
“The character is woven into the story in a way that intrigued me,” he said. “There’s a very strong emotional context and the relationship between the character, Deckard, to the other characters I found fascinating. I think it’s interesting to develop a character after a period of time.”
And director Villeneuve has called the movie the “riskiest” film of his career, remarking: “I feel [the pressure] every day. At the same time, I’ve never been that inspired and excited. I love risk.”
Blade Runner 2049 will be in cinemas October 2017.
