Is Max Branning about to destroy his brother Jack’s life by giving away young Matthew? It’s the question all EastEnders fans will now be asking, thanks to a conversation between Max and Dot that suggested he was going to get in touch with Matthew’s biological father, Charlie Cotton.
Having already succeeded in parting the Carters from the Queen Vic’s freehold, Max now seems to have turned his attention to Jack as he puts the next stage of his revenge plan into action. Hinting to Dot that Jack wasn’t up to the task of caring for Matthew (what with him not being the boy’s dad), Max then suggested he contact Charlie. But only after making it look as though Dot had come up with the idea in the first place.
Fans have yet to find out why Max has such a grievance against all those around him (is it tied to his being imprisoned for a crime he didn’t actually commit?). But it seems that he won’t think twice about getting hold of Charlie: recent paparazzi photos saw actor Declan Bennett filming on location with Jake Wood – all of which suggests that Jack could well be in line for fresh heartache in the near future thanks to his brother’s actions…
