Beauty and the Beast beats Fifty Shades Darker to become most viewed trailer in 24 hours

Emma Watson's new film trailer racked up 127.6 million views in a single day

The trailer for Disney’s latest live-action remake, Beauty and the Beast, has now become the most-viewed trailer in a single day.

The trailer – the one giving us a glimpse of Emma Watson’s Belle and Dan Stevens’ (very flat-faced) beast – clocked up a total of 127.6 million views across all digital platforms (YouTube, Facebook, Instagram etc.) when it was released on Monday.

Beauty and the Beast’s 127.6 million trailer views in a single day puts it ahead of Fifty Shades Darker’s 114 million views and Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ 112 million.

It’s at this is the point where we’re obliged to post the Fifty Shades trailer. Which we have below. But you have absolutely no obligation at all to watch it. Seriously, just scroll on past if you feel like it.

The Beauty and the Beast news shouldn’t be a huge surprise to fans: back in May they racked up an impressive 91.8 million views in 24 hours just for a 90-second sneak peek of the film. That beat Star Wars: The Force Awakens, whose two teasers were watched 55 million and 88 million times on their first days.

Will Belle and the Beast beat box office records? We’re calling it now: it’s going to be a roaring success.

Beauty and the Beast will hit cinemas 17th March 2017
