Coronation Street star Michael Le Vell – “Kevin’s purple coat will be back!”

Exclusive: Corrie fans can rest easy - Kev's jacket will be coming out of retirement in the future

Coronation Street fans left reeling by the shock absence of Kevin’s Webster’s purple bomber jacket in recent episodes of the ITV soap can feel reassured: the coat is coming back.

This week’s Corrie has seen Kev debut a new taupe-coloured coat, a development that left viewers (well, us) in fear that the lilac original had been axed.

But we can now reveal that the purple bomber jacket is safe in actor Michael Le Vell’s dressing room – however the iconic Corrie costume is crying out for some TLC.

Speaking to Radio Times this afternoon, Le Vell said: “It’s getting a bit old and tired these days and is in need of some love and attention. So it’s having a little rest. But it will be back out as soon as the weather gets a bit warmer.”

So, there we have it, Corrie coat aficionados – the frayed and faded jacket will be making a return in the near future.

But be warned Coronation Street, don’t go getting any controversial notions about Roy’s shopping bag or Norris’s sleeveless v-neck jumpers. We’ll be watching you!
