The trailer for Fifth Element director Luc Besson’s new movie suggests it could be another sci-fi classic

Starring Dane DeHaa, Cara Delevingne, Clive Owen and Rihanna, Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets features some stunning visuals


It’s hard to say what the plot’s like from the trailer for Luc Besson’s upcoming new sci-fi film Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, but it certainly looks as if it could a be a visual feast to rival his 1997 classic The Fifth Element.


The film follows Valerian (Dane DeHaan) and Laureline (Cara Delevingne), two special operatives working for the universal government who are sent on a mission to Alpha, an intergalactic city populated by diverse species with incredible technologies. Clive Owen stars as their commander, with Rihanna, John Goodman, Ethan Hawke and sci-fi legend Rutger Hauer also among the cast.


Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets is due in cinemas in summer 2017
