The Great British Bake Off fans are still reeling from the end of the last full series ever to feature judge Mary Berry, hosts Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins – and Class of 2015 tipped us over the edge.
During The Great British Bake Off: Class of 2015, we caught up with the bakers from the show’s most iconic year, including Nadiya Hussain and Dr Tamal Ray and lion-bread maker Paul Jagger.
But the show’s most poignant moment came when An Extra Slice host Jo Brand asked: “What would Bake Off be without the caring comedy cohort that are Mel and Sue?”
Tugging at the heart-strings even more, this was followed by a montage of their best moments, including Mel mistaking “pansies” for “panties” and the two horsing around together. “What you see on television is only half of it,” finalist Ian Cumming added.
Viewers couldn’t help feeling upset by the reminder that when the show moves to Channel 4, it will be without Mel and Sue.

"What would Bake-Off be without Mel and Sue…?" asks the narrator, pointedly. What indeed? #GBBO

Did the commentary on GBBO Class of 2015 really just say 'you can't have Bake Off without Mel & Sue'?

At least Class of 2015 gave us a chance to look back on what made the Great British Bake Off into the nation’s favourite TV show…
