The Bake Off semi-finalist has the perfect memento to his time on the show

You know when you got everyone to sign your shirt with marker pen on your last day of school, promising to stay in touch and wishing you the best of luck in the future? The Great British Bake Off legend Selasi Gbormittah had the bright idea to recreate that tradition when he left the tent – using his apron.

No one has embodied the friendliness of the Bake Off tent more than Selasi. He hosted a massive pizza party so the whole gang could watch the final; he jumped on his motorbike to visit his “favourite pensioner” Val Stones; he formed a beautiful friendship with Benjamina Ebuehi

Now, the sentimental baker has had his apron framed.

The best message? Val’s, of course. She has scrawled “You are all my children” on Selasi’s apron.

Oh, Val! So odd and slightly cryptic. It seems the 66-year-old has become the mother hen of #GBBO 2016.

Benjamina settled for the more conventional – but still touching – message, “Troublemaker! Been so much fun baking with you,” while Kate Barmby went with: “Well done Big Bear. You are a true Star Baker.”
