Tonight’s episode of the Apprentice features an unexpected development when one candidate quits the process and storms off before the task has even really begun.
Said task sees Lord Sugar’s prospective business partners sent off to sell product lines and create window displays in London department store Liberty, only for one contestant to unexpectedly pull out shortly after the project managers are agreed.
“I’m really sorry… I’m just not enjoying it,” the candidate (whose identity we’re keeping a secret) tells their shocked teammates, adding: “I have found the process overwhelming and stressful and really intense and I just want to go home… Now. Right now.”
The departure (which some of the contestants assumed was a joke) sends the team into shock, with many of them urging their erstwhile teammate to reconsider, but to no avail.
Still, not everybody was as bothered by the unexpected exit, with Lord Sugar later joking “I’ve saved myself a cab fare” and the rest of the episode proceeding more or less smoothly.
Well, as smoothly as things ever go on The Apprentice – let’s just say that both the team short one member and their opponents don’t find this week’s task quite as much of a laugh as Lord Sugar…
The Apprentice continues on BBC1 tonight (Thursday 27th October) at 9:00pm
