Is this the new Bake Off? BBC announces feel-good family cooking show

New programme will search for the country's best amateur cooks (sound familiar?)

Dry those Bake Off-related tears, because it looks like the Beeb might just have found a replacement.

The broadcaster has announced a new amateur cookery show with the working title The Big Family Cooking Challenge.

According to the BBC press office, the show will pit family teams of home cooks against each other, with the judges visiting homes to deliver the challenges and decide who will be declared the nation’s best home cooks.

Sounds a bit like Bake Off, but with a wider range of food plus added family dynamics – so the perfect feel-good TV show?

It’s being developed by Voltage TV and is already in pre-production, with the first episode due to hit BBC Two next summer.

Donna Clark, the  says: “I’m thrilled to be taking food competitions in a different direction. A passion for food starts in the family kitchen and this format will take us into homes up and down the country where we’ll meet Britain’s most passionate and exciting families of cooks.”
