The Crystal Maze returned to Channel 4 for a special episode on Sunday night – and it really got the fans started (see what we did there?)
The cult 90s game show enjoyed a one-off revival hosted by Stephen Merchant as part of Stand Up to Cancer 2016, with celebrity guests including Michelle Keegan, Rio Ferdinand and Sara Cox raising funds for Cancer Research.
And, judging by Twitter’s reaction, it appears it was quite a hit.
Any chance we can get #CrystalMaze back on TV as a permanent feature – seriously, its thousands time better than other competition shows!!

Even got the retro 1990s clock back for the #CrystalMaze. Bring it back Channel 4!

Some people couldn’t resist a little dig at the channel’s recent acquisition…
Channel 4 spent £75m on Bake Off when they should've splashed out on a full revival of the #CrystalMaze

Hey channel 4, I'd rather you spent 25 million on a full series of #crystalmaze than Paul Hollywood and some ovens

"There would be more, but Channel 4 spent all their money on that bloody cake show" ?????? #crystalmaze

Others started floating the theory that maybe this was just a test run for another series anyway…
I really hope this is a back-door pilot. #CrystalMaze

Let's face it, they haven't built a set like that and produced all those graphics and titles to NOT make a series.. #CrystalMaze

Or maybe the could combine the two shows. The Great Crystal Maze Off anyone…?
