Who is Rav Bansal?

This year’s resident Mr Nice. Not only is Rav passionate about charity volunteering, but his full-time job is supporting students at City University London. Definitely a shoulder to cry after the annual ice cream disaster.

What’s Rav’s baking style?

He’s no steady Norman. Rav is adventurous and experimental with his baking and likes to use a whole range of unusual ingredients.

He thinks he has a good sense of flavour combinations, even if they might seem strange to others. Others probably being Paul Hollywood.

He is especially inspired by far eastern cuisine and likes vegan baking. Basically, he’s the one to watch come alternative ingredients week.

How well is Rav doing?

It was a mixed bag for the ever-smiling Rav, who absolutely loved his time in the tent but never quite had the final finesse of his fellow bakers. His burnt gingerbread in Biscuit Week left a bitter taste, and Paul was even less impressed with his flavour combinations in Batter Week. A worthy effort to make it all the way to episode six – but Botanical Week eventually proved his undoing.
