Filming Games of Thrones violence is…boring, says actress Indira Varma

The actress who plays Ellaria Sand also reveals that she doesn't watch the show...because she doesn't have Sky

Indira Varma, the British actress who plays the wickedly violent Ellaria Sand in Game of Thrones, says she finds filming the gory scenes in the show…a little dull.

“It’s boring!” she told a Broadcasting Press Guild lunch.

“It takes forever because they have to do so much coverage so they can edit it and add sound effects and make it even more disgusting.”

Ellaria, as you will remember, was forced to watch Gregor Clegane AKA The Mountain crush the skull of her lover Oberyn Martell (Pedro Pascal) at the end of series four, so she knows all about disgusting.

Still, she doesn’t have to see the gore itself… because she doesn’t tune into the show.

“I don’t watch it! I don’t have Sky! I am less interested in the end result, it’s in the doing. I will watch it at some point but I need a bit of distance…it’s embarrassing!”
