Game of Thrones star Richard Madden joins the cast of Strange ‘NEW’ Things

The King in The North is playing a priest in space

The world and its TV loving wife may be obsessed with Stranger Things but Richard Madden’s gearing up to try some Strange NEW Things instead.

The Game of Thrones actor has joined the cast of Amazon’s new drama pilot, which is based on Michel Faber’s novel, The Book Of Strange New Things.

As per TV Line, Madden will play the lead character, “a soulful, intense priest who leaves his wife to travel to a distant planet/colony to preach to the native population.”

Because leaving his lands to preach to the people worked SO WELL for the King in The North…

George RR Martin isn’t holding his fate in his hands this time, though. Bridge of Spies screenwriter Matt Charman is writing and executive producing the pilot, while The Last King of Scotland’s Kevin MacDonald will direct it.

Word on the street is that they’re hoping to get the green light for a 10 episode series.

We’d tell Richard to break a leg, but he’s already got that covered.
