Could Love Island get an after-hours spin-off show?

Host Caroline Flack is keen for more gossip to follow the main ITV2 show next year

Cue the spin-off show! Yes islanders (or, at least, fans of all things Love Island) host Caroline Flack thinks the steamy reality show would benefit from an after-hours sister show for all of the juicy gossip.

Imagine what would be aired given the content of the regular show, which sees singletons head to a villa in Mallorca in the hopes of finding love? In fact, don’t imagine that. We’re blushing at the thought.

While not yet able to confirm if she’ll be back as host next year (“Hopefully – it’s my project that I love”) Flack is eager for a double dose of Love Island.

“I wonder if we’re going to do more with it next year,” she told “Everyone was buzzing about it, it’s almost like it needs a spin-off show as everyone’s talking about it so much. It’d be nice to have a little show afterwards where they have a sort of discussion.”

Flack admitted she’d “completely” made the idea up, but show bosses haven’t actually completely dismissed it. An insider told us that while it’s not something that’s actually being put together, with series three still in such early planning stages, “anything is possible”. While the broadcaster has ditched plans to have a The Voice spin-off next year, the success of The X Factor’s new live sister show – helmed by Rylan Clark and Matt Edmondson – could well encourage them to further consider the idea.

Personally I’d be keen if it also included more truth telling with the recently evicted islanders. Like when Ms Flack swooped in to reveal Rykard had actually slept with Olivia, while he was like totally supposed to be in love with Rachel. Oh the dramz.

As for a spin-off host, Flack joked that Katie Price, who’s been vocal in her desire to host the main show, could do it.

“She can have the spin-off show,” Flack gently teased, admitting she’s not surprised in the slightest that people want the gig.

“It’s a really fun job and it’s a brilliant show. It’s nice to work on a show that you get so hooked on. I was like that with the jungle,” she added, having hosted I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here’s spin-off from 2009 to 2010. “You get really hooked on the storylines.”
