She’s travelled through space and time and helped conquered the galaxy – but now Doctor Who and Guardians of the Galaxy star Karen Gillan has a new challenge ahead of her as she joins cursed board-game adventure sequel Jumanji.
Announcing the news on his Instagram account co-star Dwayne Johnson paid tribute to Gillan, describing her as “the girl who is so bad ass she shaved her freaking head for Guardians of the Galaxy” and as playing the “most important role” in the movie, and frankly it seems like the only person more excited by this news than Doctor Who fans is the former Rock himself.
Gillan joins Kevin Hart, Jack Black and Nick Jonas alongside Johnson, in a film that all have been keen to stress is a “continuation” of the original Robin Williams film rather than a reboot or remake, and according to Deadline will be playing a character called Martha.
Sadly, it’ll probably be a while until we learn much more about what’s in store for the erstwhile Amy Pond, but one thing’s for sure – while Hollywood may be a jungle, Karen Gillan seems to be making her way through it just fine.
