Netflix series Stranger Things has inspired all sorts of fan speculation, but perhaps the oddest theory kicking around was that one of the characters in the creepy series had a connection to sunny US sitcom Parks and Recreation.
Yep, that’s right – Stranger Things’ popular and unpleasant jock Steve Harrington (Joe Keery) is reminding an awful lot of people of Parks and Recreation’s Jean-Ralphio, from his great head of hair and entitled attitude to generally annoying ways. Plus, you know, they both live in Indiana and they just LOOK the same.
And now, the man behind Jean-Ralphio has weighed into the debate himself – and actor Ben Schwartz has no doubts that the connection is real.
In fact, as he lays out in the Late Late Show with James Corden segment above, he’s certain that Steve is Jean-Ralphio’s real dad (the series’ mid-80s setting works for Jean-Ralphio’s mid-20s age, after all)– and he’s worked out EXACTLY how it could all play out on screen
But could there be a canon crossover between the two series? Well, in the video Schwartz says: “I would say there’s a 100% chance of me being on Stranger Things seasons 2-100.”
I’d say the ball’s in your court, Netflix. There’s no way this can’t end without you being…
